Understand your audience

Understand your audience

Learn how players find your game, where they live and which devices they use.

How to use it

  1. Open Acquisition for traffic sources or Demographics for audience composition.
  2. Choose country, age or another available dimension and a range.
  3. Toggle lines above the chart and compare values in the table below.
  4. Click a country's row or bar to open its chart below. Choose Metric, Breakdown and Segment, or add comparison lines. The country stays pinned; only saved slices are available.

Advice and practical context

Mix changes the average

An overall KPI can move because country, platform, age, or source shares changed even when behavior within each segment is stable. Inspect segment volume first, segment quality next, and the aggregate only after that.

Practical diagnosis

If D1 falls as a new country grows, compare D1 within old and new countries and inspect acquisition source. Do not call localization the cause without cohort analysis or treat a small segment as representative.

Show segment size beside percentages because a small market can swing from a few users. Treat country and language separately when evaluating localization; they are not equivalent. Platform and operating system also answer different questions.

Technical detailsCalculations, permissions and behavior

Demographics: shared snapshot and chart

Internal analytics and investor analytics use the same demographics block. Countries, Gender, Age, Platform and OS tabs come first, followed immediately by the selected dimension's history chart and then the latest daily MAU snapshot table. In internal analytics, the milestones list follows the table.

Every chart starts with All, the official unsplit Roblox metric, initially disabled. The country chart lists All and the ten largest countries first; all lines are initially disabled. Line selections are stored in your account per game, metric and dimension; changing the period does not reset them.

Other countries start disabled inside an expandable group where they can be enabled or disabled together or individually. Countries use a flag and their full name. Values from different dates are never added, missing points are not replaced with zeros, and Region is omitted because the documented Analytics Query API does not return it as a separate dimension.

Gender line colors are fixed: men are blue, women pink, unknown green, and All yellow. Colors stay the same when changing the period, ordering or visibility, including combined breakdowns.

Selected country chart

In Demographics, click a country row or its distribution bar to open that country's MAU chart below the table and scroll to it. Keyboard users can focus the row and press Enter or Space. The country stays pinned for every line.

Choose a different permitted Metric, or Add line to compare several metrics. Breakdown and Segment show only saved joint observations for that country, such as country × gender. If a slice is missing, MARPLA reports it without substituting worldwide data or another country.

Standard periods, intervals, line toggles, chart styles and CSV remain available. In Per player mode, totals use whole-game DAU as in Multi chart; this is not an average per player of the selected country. Permission is checked for each metric.

Acquisition: sources and funnel charts

The source comparison plots ads, Home recommendations and other traffic separately, while Combined sources adds their values at each shared timestamp. On the Home Recommendations page, the first two cards show the actual number of unique users who saw the game on Home and the number who started playing after that recommendation; each opens its own chart. Play-through rate and every Roblox signal then follow directly without an extra information banner: first-play bounce, play days and playtime, intentional co-play, qualified sessions, spend days and Robux spent per user.

The seven signals request 19 separate daily Roblox series. Play days has D8–D28 and D2–D7 lines; the other cohort signals also include D1. Bounce rate uses under-60-second and 61–180-second segments.

Cards show each segment’s average over loaded days in the selected period. Select a card to open its chart below the grid, with dates and the number of loaded days per series. The chart period is remembered separately.

History loads on first opening and is refreshed by the background collector. Segments are never added together and missing observations are not replaced with zero. If Roblox rejects a query or has not returned history, the interface shows missing data and the error instead of invented values.

Chart intervals, countries and languages

Auto, daily, weekly and monthly intervals retain the value cards and chart; available intervals depend on the Roblox metric. Selecting an interval prioritizes collection while saved observations remain visible with an explanation. The first daily revenue tile is titled Daily revenue.

Every breakdown starts with All, initially disabled; country breakdowns start with every line disabled: All, the top 10 for the selected period, and a collapsed Other countries group; language breakdowns also start with all lines disabled; other segments are in an expandable list and can be enabled individually or together. Country rates and averages are never summed: the overall metric is fetched separately for the same interval. DAU/MAU is stored and calculated as a ratio and formatted as a percentage, keeping the curve consistent with its tooltip.

Stored breakdowns and fresh sync

Supported daily breakdowns are collected in the background without opening charts: countries, age, gender, platforms, operating systems, languages and other groups available for each metric. Received observations stay in MARPLA's database without age-based deletion. The queue refreshes daily data approximately every six hours and backfills history gradually; initial population is not instant.

Switching charts reads the database without waiting for a Roblox query to finish. Manual sync prioritizes the selected query and starts up to two jobs after returning the saved response; remaining work continues in the minute queue. For 30 seconds, the open chart polls only our database more frequently.

Identical clicks are limited to once per minute, with one manual batch at a time per game. Rate-limit and permission backoffs remain enforced; pending operations resume without being recreated. Partial responses never clear saved points.

Countries are unavailable for RFYPlayThroughRate (Home play-through conversion): the official API supports only AgeGroupV2 and Gender. ItemMonetizationRevenue supports products and sales locations, but not countries; use DailyRevenue for revenue by country. Technical metrics also have their own dimension lists.

Unsupported choices are marked, and missing data is never replaced with zero. Daily metrics and delayed cohorts appear only when Roblox makes them available. Server and player counters share the same live dots; primary chart values and Robux use large primary-color figures with inline trends.
