Read benchmarks and retention
Benchmarks compare your game with others. Retention shows whether players return.
How to use it
- Choose a retention metric or benchmark.
- In segments, choose the Through date with arrows or the calendar; check the actual date on each panel. Click a row to scroll to its history chart below.
- Compare your line with the gray band and P50 and P90 markers.
- When changing the audience, check that the comparison range stays the same.
Advice and practical context
Benchmark as reference
P50 and P90 describe a comparison-set distribution, not one target for every genre. The similar-game set can change, so movement against the band may partly reflect a peer-set transition rather than only a change in your game.
Diagnostic conclusion
D1 below P50 identifies onboarding as an area to inspect, but it does not name the cause. Open cohorts and segments next. Do not treat P90 as a growth promise or assume the benchmark itself affects Roblox recommendations.
Wait for retention cohorts to mature: recent D7 or D30 can be empty because the required time has not passed. Comparing that chart edge with a mature benchmark creates a false decline. Check the cohort's first-play date.
Technical detailsCalculations, permissions and behavior
Verified percentiles and sync
The P50–P90 band uses only verified Roblox helper data for matching dates. It is available for supported daily charts without a breakdown, including average session time. Historical ranges are queued for backfill and an open chart checks saved bounds every minute.
Empty replies are never replaced with invented bands. The icon-only sync button has the normal color when healthy. Red indicates a failure of that specific request, with its reason on hover.
A successful request clears the error.
First session and retention segments
The first-session chart uses the shared heading with the percentage still playing after five minutes on the right. Its period selects completed cohort dates; 30-second, one-minute and five-minute intervals select displayed elapsed-time points, not calendar dates. Line, smooth, bars, legend and tooltips are available.
Dated milestones do not overlay an elapsed-time axis. In retention segments, select a supported Roblox breakdown to see full-width D1, D7 and D30 panels, each using its latest mature cohort. Every panel has its own labelled linear scale starting at zero, with the longest positive bar filling at least half the scale.
Compare lengths only within a panel and exact percentages across D1, D7 and D30. Header arrows and the calendar set a Through date: each panel shows its latest available mature cohort no later than that date, with its actual date displayed. Latest restores current cohorts.
Click a segment row to open its history below and scroll to the chart. The 7, 30, 90 and 180 day ranges end at the chosen date, subject to metric maturity. Gaps remain gaps; changing the date uses loaded history, while refresh requests the source.
