Designing a Roblox ad creative test
A useful test compares ideas that lead to different decisions: action versus reward, cooperation versus solo power. A tiny color change rarely tells the producer what to build next.
Focused deep dive
Complete the card before spend
Record the hypothesis, variants, objective, audience, targeting, destination, dates, budget logic, game version, loss cap, and action for every outcome. Give every file a stable code. Each variant must truthfully represent an available game moment.
For a creative-only comparison, hold other settings constant. If audience and image change together, the result belongs to the combination. Roblox permits up to ten images in one campaign and allocates them automatically; MARPLA's one-setup, multiple-creatives mode creates a separate campaign per image. Neither structure is a conventional randomized experiment.
| Event | Risk | Log entry |
|---|---|---|
| Variant starts later | Unequal window | Exact start time |
| Game release | Destination/FTUE changed | Version and time |
| Reporting outage | Incomplete measures | Coverage and recheck |
| Audience changed | New sample | Separate cycle |
Conclude after the funnel
Read impressions → clicks → plays → cost → available quality. High CTR and weak click-to-play suggest checking promise, destination, and errors, but do not identify a cause by themselves. If post-join behavior exists only for Sponsored as a source, do not assign D1 to one image.
Suppose B gets fewer clicks but more plays at equal spend and comparable delivery. The next test may preserve B's promise, but the retention winner remains unknown. This wording keeps the conclusion inside the evidence.
- Compare one explainable idea.
- Verify fidelity and mobile readability.
- Log publication, pauses, and moderation.
- Split interrupted intervals.
- Archive the export, card, and next question.

Put this into practice in MARPLA
Record the objective and loss limit, create a bounded test and compare spend with player quality. Before stopping, save a snapshot and verify each campaign’s confirmed state.
