# How to Cash Out Robux: DevEx, Fees, Crypto, and Taxes in 2026

2026-09-13

One million standard Earned Robux is worth $3,800 before fees and taxes. To find out how much you will keep, calculate your game expenses, payout costs, currency conversion, and taxes separately.

## Which method to choose

[Just want conclusions and simple examples? Read the short guide to bank transfers, PayPal and a UAE company.](/en/resources/roblox-cashout-simple)

For Robux you have already earned, the basic route is **DevEx → your own bank account → one conversion into the currency you need**. First compare the amount you would actually receive through the Tipalti methods available to you. Fixed fees matter more for small payouts; the exchange rate matters more for large ones. Buying cryptocurrency only makes sense as a separate decision about how to hold or use your money.

| Situation | What to check first | What can erase the benefit |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 30–100 thousand Earned Robux | Local bank transfer / ACH / eCheck in your portal | Fixed wire fee and minimum fees |
| 1 million Earned Robux or more | Receiving USD and comparing the final exchange rate | A 1–3% conversion cost matters more than a few dollars per transfer |
| You need EUR or another local currency | One conversion; compare your bank's rate with Tipalti's offer | USD → wallet currency → bank currency creates two conversions |
| You need USDC, BTC, or another cryptocurrency | DevEx into money, then an exchange your bank permits and you can access | Trading fee, spread, network fee, price risk, and additional tax records |
| A studio with stable revenue | An account and tax documents for the correct recipient; expense records | Owner taxes, accounting, and taking profit out of the company |
| Your country or bank is unsupported | Written clarification from Roblox/Tipalti for your residency and bank details | Someone else's account or a false address does not create a lawful payment route |

There is no single cheapest bank for every country: method availability depends on the recipient. Focus on the amount that will actually reach your account and your ability to document where it came from. ## Which Robux you can cash out

Robux in your wallet and **Earned Robux** are not the same thing. Purchased Robux, gift cards, Premium grants, resales of other creators' items, and ordinary transfers between players do not become earnings eligible for DevEx. Revenue from your own permitted products, games, and reward programs may qualify. Roblox makes the final determination. [Roblox — DevEx Terms of Use](https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005718246-Developer-Exchange-Terms-of-Use)

Check four figures at the same time: sales during the period, pending Robux, the community's available balance, and your personal Earned Robux balance for DevEx. They represent different states of the money. A group payout distributes existing revenue among contributors; you cannot add it to the game's revenue a second time. A community balance can also include several games.

The minimum request is 30,000 Earned Robux, and creators must be at least 13. You also need a verified email, compliance with the rules, and valid payment and tax information. DevEx permits one completed request per calendar month. The first review usually takes about 10 business days and subsequent reviews about 5; the bank transfer follows. These are estimates, not a guaranteed payment date. [Roblox — DevEx payout process](https://create.roblox.com/docs/production/monetization/developer-exchange)

Do not spend your entire balance on advertising or contractors if you intend to cash it out: anything you spend will no longer be available for cash-out. Wait until eligibility and payment are confirmed before planning personal expenses around the money.

## Rates: what 30 thousand, one million, and 10 million are worth

For standard Robux earned from **10:00 PT on September 5, 2025**, DevEx pays **$0.0038 per Robux**. The rate for older earnings is $0.0035. The date of a group payout does not turn old earnings into new earnings. [Roblox — rates and Earned Robux](https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/13061189551124-Developer-Exchange-Help-and-Information-Page)

| Earned Robux | Old category at $0.0035 | Standard rate at $0.0038 | US 18+ category only at $0.0054 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 30,000 | $105 | $114 | $162 |
| 100,000 | $350 | $380 | $540 |
| 1,000,000 | $3,500 | $3,800 | $5,400 |
| 10,000,000 | $35,000 | $38,000 | $54,000 |

These amounts are **before** payment fees, currency conversion, and taxes. The price a player pays to buy Robux is unrelated.

Since **June 8, 2026**, the US 18+ rate has been $0.0054. It applies to eligible purchases of products, passes, subscriptions, and private servers by age-verified adult U.S. players in a qualifying game. Standard avatars must use R15; allowing R6 at any point during play makes the game ineligible. Separate requirements apply to custom characters. The developer's own age or citizenship does not make the entire balance eligible for this rate. [Roblox — U.S. 18+ exchange rate, effective June 8, 2026](https://create.roblox.com/docs/production/monetization/18-plus-devex-rate)

Calculate a mixed balance by category: **USD = 0.0035 × old + 0.0038 × standard + 0.0054 × US 18+**. For example, 200,000 standard and 800,000 qualifying US 18+ Robux produce $5,080. If US 18+ accounts for only 20%, the same million produces $4,120, not $5,400.

When you cash out, Roblox prioritizes the US 18+ category; old and new balances then follow the ordering rules for the remaining categories. Use the breakdown in the request itself instead of choosing your own average rate. [Exchange order rules](https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/13061189551124-Developer-Exchange-Help-and-Information-Page)

## Every layer of fees: what is deducted and when

First, Roblox keeps the platform's share when an item is sold. Earned Robux are then converted to USD through DevEx. U.S. tax withholding, a payout fee, bank charges, and currency conversion may follow. Tax in your country is calculated separately. **Tax withholding is not a Roblox fee.**

For your own pass or developer product, the creator's usual share is 70% of the Robux spent. A sale for 1,000 Robux leaves 700; at the standard DevEx rate, that is $2.66 before further costs. If your Earned Robux balance already contains 1,000 Robux, its value is $3.80: do not deduct 30% again. [Roblox — monetization methods and revenue shares](https://create.roblox.com/docs/get-started/monetization)

| Stage | How to account for it |
| --- | --- |
| Sale | Use the creator earnings shown in the report, not the buyer's price |
| DevEx | Apply the rate for each earnings category |
| U.S. withholding tax | Track it separately so you can later check whether a foreign tax credit is available |
| Tipalti / PayPal | Use the fee for your specific method and country |
| Bank / correspondent | Check the incoming wire/SWIFT fee and possible intermediary deductions |
| Currency conversion | Compare the final rate with an independent rate at the same time |
| Company and personal taxes | Do not confuse company profit with money available to the owner |
| Cryptocurrency | Add the trading fee, spread, and withdrawal fee for the selected network |

A promise of ‘0% commission’ says nothing about the exchange rate. Suppose the market reference is €0.92 per $1 but you are offered €0.90. The exchange-rate loss is about 2.17%; on $3,800, the difference is €76. This is an illustrative rate, not a current quote.

## Bank, PayPal, and Wise: comparing payout methods

Roblox lists an international PayPal fee of **$1 + 2%, capped at $21**, and a domestic fee of **$0.10 + 2%, capped at $1**. Conversion into local currency may add **1.9–3%**. After processing, ACH/eCheck usually takes 3–5 business days, PayPal 2–3, wire 1–5, and checks 7–14. Check the exact fee in your portal. [Roblox — Tipalti fees and processing times](https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/27985018895124-Tax-and-DevEx-Portal-Tipalti-Information)

Compare ACH, eCheck, and local bank transfers first for small amounts. Wire/SWIFT may work better for large USD payouts if your bank charges a small fixed fee and offers a good exchange rate. PayPal is convenient if you already use it for work; its capped fee does not remove conversion and onward-transfer costs.

Wise can help you receive USD and convert it later **only if** Roblox/Tipalti accepts your account details, your country and account type are supported, and the names match. Wise generally lists free ACH receipts and a $6.11 fee for an incoming USD wire/SWIFT, with exceptions for some business accounts. This is a Wise fee, not a promise of a free DevEx payout. [Wise — receiving USD by ACH and wire](https://wise.com/help/articles/2827506/how-do-i-receive-money-with-my-usd-account-details)

Before selecting a route, open the Tipalti estimate, check your bank's incoming fee, and request a final exchange quote. Compare offers in the same minute, in the same currency, and for the same amount. Save the fee schedule and confirmation of your first successful payout. For large amounts, ask in advance which proof-of-funds documents you will need.

The break-even check is simple. If one route hypothetically costs $5 + 2.5% and another costs $25 + 0.5%, the percentage saving offsets the extra $20 at a payout of about $1,000. This is a threshold calculation using illustrative fees; the exact threshold depends on the fee base and bank deductions.

## What you keep: three routes and a tax reserve

The table below compares **models**, not guaranteed bank offers: A — a $1 fee and 0.5% conversion; B — $5 and 2.5%; C — the international PayPal fee and an illustrative combined conversion loss of 3%. Formula: `(DevEx USD − fee) × (1 − conversion loss)`. Taxes, game expenses, U.S. withholding, and additional bank fees are set to zero for now. All results are in USD equivalent.

| Standard Earned Robux | Before costs | Model A | Model B | Model C |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 30,000 | $114 | $112.44 | $106.28 | $107.40 |
| 100,000 | $380 | $377.11 | $365.63 | $360.26 |
| 1,000,000 | $3,800 | $3,780.01 | $3,700.13 | $3,665.63 |
| 10,000,000 | $38,000 | $37,809.01 | $37,045.13 | $36,839.63 |

At one million Robux, the A–C difference is about $114.38. At ten million, it is $969.38. Saving a few dollars once matters less than repeatedly losing a percentage of total revenue.

Now take a payout for 1 million standard Robux under Model A, with no game expenses: $3,780.005 before rounding. If you reserve an illustrative 10%, 20%, 30%, or 40% of that amount for all taxes and contributions, you keep **$3,402.00 / $3,024.00 / $2,646.00 / $2,268.00**, respectively. This shows how the budget changes with the effective burden; these are not country-specific tax rates or a tax return. In your country, the tax base may include deducted fees.

For a personal income target, calculate from profit. Suppose the team and advertising consume 10% of revenue, payments and conversion another 1%, and the effective tax on the remaining profit is 20%. Net income in the model is `Robux × 0.0038 × 0.89 × 0.80`.

| Target net income in the model | Standard Earned Robux needed, rounded up |
| --- | --- |
| $1,000 | 370,000 |
| $3,000 | 1,109,000 |
| $10,000 | 3,697,000 |

If development is unprofitable or several partners are paid, the amount available to you personally will be lower. Do not estimate annual revenue from one successful month. A payment balance does not show future refunds, taxes, or obligations to the team.

## U.S. taxes: what changes on November 1, 2026

**Starting November 1, 2026**, DevEx payments will be treated as royalties for U.S. tax purposes. The payout date matters, not the request date. Roblox recommends submitting a request under the old terms by **October 15**; that does not guarantee processing before November. Review your tax information in Creator Hub Taxes by **October 31**. Tipalti will continue to disburse the money. [Roblox — DevEx tax change effective November 1, 2026](https://create.roblox.com/docs/production/monetization/tax-information)

With a valid W-8, a non-U.S. recipient may have **0–30% withheld from the portion of income attributable to U.S. buyers**; a W-8 does not automatically mean 0%. Without valid information, **24% of the entire payout** may be withheld. [Roblox rules effective in November](https://create.roblox.com/docs/production/monetization/tax-information)

The general IRS rule for U.S. royalties paid to a nonresident is 30%, or a lower treaty rate when the requirements are met. Individuals use W-8BEN; an eligible entity generally uses W-8BEN-E. Treaty eligibility depends on the recipient's actual tax status and entitlement to benefits. [IRS — withholding on royalties paid to nonresidents](https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/federal-income-tax-withholding-and-reporting-on-other-kinds-of-us-source-income-paid-to-nonresident-aliens)

Example after the change: $3,800, with 40% of income from the U.S. and an applicable withholding rate of 30%. Withholding is **$456**, so **$3,344** goes to the payment provider. At a 10% treaty rate, withholding would be $152. The share of U.S. visits, CCU, or ad impressions is not a substitute for the revenue share Roblox uses.

You cannot mechanically add the tax in your country to that 30%. A foreign tax credit may be available, but local rules and documentation can limit it. For example, if local tax is $760 on the same income and the full $456 is creditable, another $304 is due; total tax is $760, not $1,216. The result changes if the credit is unavailable, limited, or applied to a different base.

Keep records of the gross amount, the U.S.-source portion, tax actually withheld, Form 1042-S, and the bank deposit. The word ‘royalties’ in U.S. documents does not automatically make the income passive or tax-advantaged under the law of your country.

## Taxes across countries: what to compare

Start with **tax residence**, then choose a business structure. An overseas bank account, foreign LLC, Estonian OÜ or UAE visa does not by itself change the tax of someone who continues living and managing the business in the original country. Residents of Portugal, the UK and Estonia are generally taxed on worldwide income, subject to applicable exceptions. [Portugal AT — CIRS Article 15](https://info.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/pt/informacao_fiscal/codigos_tributarios/cirs_rep/Pages/irs15.aspx); [HMRC — residence and foreign income](https://www.gov.uk/tax-foreign-income/residence); [EMTA — determining residency](https://www.emta.ee/en/private-client/foreigner-non-resident/tax-residency/determining-residency)

| Country / structure | Main reference points | Check before choosing |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Portugal, individual | 2026 IRS bands: 12.5–48%. Standard self-employed social contributions are 21.4% of the relevant base, often 70% of service revenue. | Category B/E, activity code, base coefficient, relief and contribution limits. The 48% marginal rate does not apply to all revenue. [IRS](https://info.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/pt/informacao_fiscal/codigos_tributarios/cirs_rep/Pages/irs68.aspx); [contributions](https://en.seg-social.pt/payment-of-social-contributions-rights-duties-and-penalties) |
| US, self-employed creator | Federal rates 10–37%; 2026 single standard deduction $16,100. Self-employment tax generally 15.3% on 92.35% of net profit, subject to caps and exceptions. | State, other income, Social Security cap and entity treatment. No withholding with a valid W-9 does not eliminate annual tax. [IRS 2026](https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-releases-tax-inflation-adjustments-for-tax-year-2026-including-amendments-from-the-one-big-beautiful-bill); [SE tax](https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/self-employment-tax-social-security-and-medicare-taxes) |
| UK, sole trader | England/Wales/Northern Ireland: £12,570 allowance; 20/40/45% bands. Class 4 generally 6% between £12,570 and £50,270, then 2%. | 2026/27 tax year, allowance taper, separate Scottish rules; a Ltd and dividends require another calculation. [HMRC](https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/budget-2025-overview-of-tax-legislation-and-rates-ootlar/annex-a-rates-and-allowances); [NI](https://www.gov.uk/national-insurance/how-much-you-pay) |
| Estonia | 22% income tax; €8,400 basic exemption in 2026. Social tax 33% on relevant employment/business income. OÜ distributions taxed at 22/78 of the net dividend. | 0% on retained OÜ profit is deferral until distribution, not 0% on personal cash. An active owner’s pay cannot simply be relabelled a dividend. [EMTA](https://www.emta.ee/en/private-client/taxes-and-payment/declaration-income/tax-rates) |
| UAE | A natural person with business turnover above AED 1 million enters Corporate Tax: 0% on the first AED 375,000 taxable profit and 9% above. | Licence, actual residence, possible Small Business Relief; free-zone 0% is conditional, not universal. [FTA — individuals](https://tax.gov.ae/Datafolder/Files/Guides/CT/Taxation%20of%20natural%20persons%20-%2025%2011%202023.pdf); [free zones](https://tax.gov.ae/Datafolder/Files/Guides/CT/Free%20Zone%20Persons%20-%2020%2005%202024%20final%20for%20GCD.pdf) |
| Georgia | Small Business Status: 1% on qualifying turnover; 3% from the month GEL 500,000 is exceeded. This is not a universal royalty rate. | Status, income type, Georgian source, royalty exclusions, VAT and thresholds. A foreign payer does not make work performed in Georgia tax-free. [Tax Code](https://matsne.gov.ge/en/document/view/1043717?publication=239) |
| Russia | Eligible professional-income regime: 6% of receipts from an organisation, annual RUB 2.4m limit. Ordinary progressive personal rates: 13/15/18/20/22%. | Eligibility, currency/banking controls and payment availability. A tax regime cannot enable an unavailable Tipalti route. [FNS — professional income](https://npd.nalog.ru/); [income tax](https://www.nalog.gov.ru/rn18/taxation/taxes/ndfl/) |

These percentages have different denominators: Georgia’s 1% applies to qualifying turnover, US rates to a tax base and Estonia’s 22/78 to a net distribution. Company profit is not yet personal cash. VAT and business administration costs require separate treatment.

**Portugal:** simplified-regime coefficients depend on local classification, for example 0.75 for listed professional services, 0.35 for other services and 0.95 for certain intellectual-property income. A coefficient is neither a tax rate nor a free choice. Ask your accountant for a written DevEx classification before and after November’s changes. [Portugal AT — CIRS Article 31](https://info.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/pt/informacao_fiscal/codigos_tributarios/cirs_rep/Pages/irs31.aspx)

Portuguese-company example: €60,000 taxable profit in an eligible SME, taxed at 15% on the first €50,000 and 19% on €10,000, gives €9,400 IRC. Distributing everything remaining to an individual at 28% dividend tax leaves **€36,432**, before municipal surtaxes, manager remuneration and company costs. A low IRC rate does not describe the owner’s full withdrawal. [Portugal AT — CIRC Article 87](https://info.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/pt/informacao_fiscal/codigos_tributarios/CIRC_2R/Pages/irc87.aspx); [Portugal AT — CIRS Article 71](https://info.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/pt/informacao_fiscal/codigos_tributarios/cirs_rep/Pages/irs71.aspx)

English sole-trader example: **£60,000 annual profit after allowable expenses**, the ordinary allowance and no other income produce about £11,432 Income Tax and £2,456.60 Class 4 NI. Remaining cash is **£46,111.40**, excluding student loans, special relief and foreign withholding. This illustrates a regime, rather than recommending relocation for that figure.

Estonian OÜ example: fully distributing €100,000 profit under the ordinary rules produces €22,000 company tax and a €78,000 dividend. The owner’s personal tax elsewhere and company costs may reduce that amount. Retaining the profit changes the timing of tax.

**Georgia:** Decree 415 excludes royalty income from taxation under the Small Business regime and from its turnover limit; receiving royalties does not itself cancel the status. If local law classifies DevEx as a qualifying service payment, 1% may be possible; if it is a royalty, source and possible foreign-income exemption require separate analysis. The payment cannot simply be renamed to choose a rate. [Decree 415, Annex 5](https://matsne.gov.ge/ka/document/view/1164635?publication=14).

**UAE: Small Business Relief through 2029.** An eligible UAE Resident Person with revenue no higher than AED 3 million in the current and every relevant prior period may elect Small Business Relief. Decision 131/2026 extends relief to tax periods ending on or before December 31, 2029. AED 1.2m turnover and AED 800,000 taxable profit produce ordinary CT of AED 38,250, or AED 0 when eligible relief is elected. Registration, filing and records remain required; qualifying free-zone persons are excluded. [UAE Ministry of Finance — extension](https://mof.gov.ae/en/news/ministry-of-finance-announces-extension-of-small-business-relief-for-corporate-tax-purposes-until-31-december-2029/).

**A company, not an individual.** An ordinary UAE resident company pays 0% on the first AED 375,000 of taxable profit and 9% above it; the AED 1 million turnover threshold for individuals does not apply. At $1 = AED 3.6725, $200,000 annual revenue is AED 734,500. Subtract assumed fully deductible costs of AED 20,000: profit is AED 714,500. Ordinary CT = (714,500 − 375,000) × 9% = AED 30,555, leaving company cash of $186,234.17. Eligible elected SBR leaves $194,554.12. This model is before U.S. withholding and owner tax; AED 20,000 is a cost assumption, not a market company-running quote. [Corporate Tax Law](https://mof.gov.ae/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Federal-Decree-Law-No.-47-of-2022-and-its-amendments-en-v13.1.26.pdf).

**Free-zone 0% requires evidence.** A QFZP may apply 0% to qualifying income from copyrighted software, but needs company IP exploitation rights, a documented development-expenditure nexus, substance and audited accounts. The royalty label in DevEx rules does not establish UAE qualification. Non-qualifying IP income is taxed at 9% and excluded from de minimis; ordinary non-qualifying revenue from a person outside a free zone can cost the company its status if it exceeds the lower of 5% of revenue or AED 5 million. Review your specific agreement and game rights before incorporation. [Qualifying IP](https://mof.gov.ae/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Cabinet-Decision-No.-100-of-2023-on-Determining-Qualifying-Income-for-the-Qualifying-Free-Zone-Person.pdf); [current activities and conditions](https://mof.gov.ae/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/EN-Ministerial-Decision-No.-229-of-2025-Regarding-Qualifying-Activities-and-Excluded-Activities.pdf).

**U.S. tax and owner cash are separate calculations.** If 40% of $100,000 DevEx is attributed to U.S. sales under the rules from November 1, 2026, 30% withholding is $12,000. After assumed AED 20,000 costs, $82,554.12 remains. UAE CT is zero in this example, so the foreign tax credit is also zero: the UAE does not refund $12,000. Credit is capped at local CT on the relevant income, with no carry-forward or refund. Personal cash arises after payment out of the company; calculate any tax in the owner’s other country of residence separately. [Tax Law Articles 45 and 47](https://mof.gov.ae/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Federal-Decree-Law-No.-47-of-2022-and-its-amendments-en-v13.1.26.pdf).

For Russia, FNS separately confirms 6% professional-income tax for eligible work with a foreign organisation. Confirm DevEx availability for the actual resident and bank with Roblox/Tipalti; the tax rate does not establish payment availability. Do not use another person’s identity or a false address. [FNS — foreign clients](https://npd.nalog.ru/html/sites/www.npd.nalog.ru/SD43_7497.pdf).

**US treaty reference rates after November 1:** the IRS copyright-royalty table lists Portugal 10%, UK 0% and Estonia 10%; the UAE baseline is 30%. IRS lists Georgia as covered by the US–USSR treaty, with 0% for qualifying royalties. These require a valid W-8, TIN, treaty entitlement and validated status; they are not guaranteed for every company. [IRS — treaty rates, Table 1 (May 2023)](https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-lbi/tax-treaty-table-1.pdf); [IRS — Georgia treaty status](https://www.irs.gov/businesses/international-businesses/georgia-tax-treaty-documents)

The IRS table is dated May 2023 and must be read alongside subsequent changes: relevant US–Russia treaty provisions were suspended from August 16, 2024, so its old 0% entry is not applicable to the US royalties discussed here. [IRS — treaty suspension](https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/a-24-26.pdf).

Portugal’s exclusion for gains on certain cryptoassets held for at least 365 days concerns **subsequent asset gains** and is conditional. It does not erase the original DevEx income used to buy the asset. Professional trading, securities and jurisdiction restrictions require separate assessment. [Portugal AT — CIRS Article 10](https://info.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/pt/informacao_fiscal/codigos_tributarios/cirs_rep/Pages/irs10.aspx)

At low income, simple accounting and an inexpensive lawful payment route often matter most. With sustained high profit, compare sole trading, a domestic company and genuine relocation with an adviser. Include living and working arrangements, contributions, company costs, US tax and distributions to the owner—not just a company-formation headline rate.

## Cryptocurrency: a separate exchange after payout

The current official DevEx program pays money through a payment provider; Roblox does not offer direct conversion of Robux into USDT, USDC, or BTC. Where available, a practical route is **DevEx → your own compatible bank account → a regulated exchange → the chosen asset**. You can then hold the asset on the exchange or move it to your own wallet. Never give an exchanger access to your Roblox account, cookie, or balance.

Check the cost of all four operations: deposit, purchase, cryptocurrency withdrawal, and a possible later sale. Kraken Instant Buy includes a 1% fee and a spread; the published lowest standard spot tier charges 0.40% maker and 0.80% taker, while the entry tier for eligible stablecoin/FX pairs charges 0.20%. Do not apply one pair's fee to another. Coinbase also separates fees, spread, and network costs; the total appears before confirmation. [Kraken — trading fees](https://www.kraken.com/features/fee-schedule); [Coinbase — fees and spread](https://help.coinbase.com/en/coinbase/trading-and-funding/pricing-and-fees/fees)

Illustrative example: $3,800 from DevEx, $5 in bank costs, then buying USDC with the remaining $3,795 at a 0.20% fee and an assumed rate of $1 per USDC. The result is **3,787.41 USDC** before spread and network fees. This is not ‘net income’: the tax reserve and game expenses have not yet been deducted. A rise in BTC after purchase is an investment result, not a better Robux cash-out rate.

Do not automatically include Wise in this route: the service prohibits outgoing transfers from a Wise account to cryptocurrency platforms. Check your bank's policy and whether the specific exchange entity is available in your country. [Wise — incompatible payments and cryptocurrency](https://wise.com/help/articles/2932118/incompatible-accounts-and-payments)

A stablecoin is not a bank deposit: risks include losing the peg, an issuer freeze, exchange failure, and loss of keys. In the EU, check whether the provider is authorized under MiCA; authorization does not remove market risk. The coin and network must match when you transfer, and you should test the address with a small amount. [ESMA — crypto-asset risks, October 6, 2025](https://www.esma.europa.eu/press-news/esma-news/eu-supervisory-authorities-warn-consumers-risks-and-limited-protection-certain)

The original game-development income and any later cryptocurrency gain or loss are separate accounting records. Keep the purchase date and value in your tax currency, fees, transfers between your own wallets, and disposal records. Receiving income in tokens or holding it on a foreign exchange does not by itself remove the tax obligation.

## Other methods: new income or a dangerous substitute

| Method | What the creator receives | Limitation |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Creator Store: your own models and plugins | USD; 100% of net proceeds after transaction taxes and payment processing | A separate product, Stripe, seller requirements, and a supported country; not an exchange of accumulated Robux |
| Paid Access in local currency | Direct cash revenue through Tipalti | 50/60/70% of Net Paid Sales at $9,99/$29,99/$49.99 tiers; funds held for at least 60 days |
| Development contract or licensing your own material | Payment from the customer in an agreed, permitted currency | Requires rights, a contract, and reporting; it cannot disguise a Robux sale or bypass in-game trading rules |
| Brand project, publisher, investment, or business sale | Contractual funding or the sale price of the business | Investment is not revenue; a business sale gives up future upside; separate legal review is needed |
| P2P exchange of Robux for money/crypto or a ‘donation pass’ used to bypass DevEx | The price promised by the counterparty | Conflicts with Roblox rules; risks include DevEx rejection, account suspension, and fraud |
| Account sale, sham purchases, or someone else's cash-out | An opaque payment | Problems with rights, source of funds, the proper tax recipient, and refunds |

Cash sales on the Creator Store do bypass the DevEx rate, but they are revenue from a new product, not a way to sell an old balance for more. ‘100% of net proceeds’ does not mean there are no payment costs or personal taxes. [Roblox — Creator Store sales in USD](https://create.roblox.com/docs/production/creator-store)

For local-currency Paid Access, the percentage is calculated from **Net Paid Sales**, not necessarily the VAT-inclusive list price. For example, $49.99 with no other deductions, at 70%, produces $34.993 before rounding; if sales tax or a refund is removed from the base first, the amount is lower. This method may weaken a free game's funnel, so use actual conversion to calculate profit. [Roblox — Paid Access in local currency](https://create.roblox.com/docs/production/monetization/paid-access-local-currency); [Roblox — Paid Access Terms](https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/32270572586260-Paid-Access-Terms)

Advertisements from third-party buyers are not an enforceable guaranteed rate. Even a higher price does not offset the risk of losing the account and future revenue. Roblox prohibits unauthorized exchanges of Robux outside the platform; buying a sham pass does not turn the transaction into legitimate monetization. ## How creators earn Robux and where to look for growth

| Source | Economics and action |
| --- | --- |
| Your own passes / developer products | Usual share: 70%; monitor offer conversion, repeat purchases, and refunds |
| Robux subscription | 70% each month; users need an ongoing reason to renew |
| Local-currency subscription | After payment deductions, the amount is calculated in Robux: 70% in the first month and 100% on renewal; DevEx follows |
| Private servers | A paid social use case; account for the Plus incentive separately |
| Creator Rewards | Genuine qualifying engagement and acquisition of new or returning users |
| Roblox Plus | In-game Plus subscriptions, server use, and the commission on built-in transfers |
| Ad placements / affiliate revenue / your own avatar items | Separate programs and shares; verify actual earnings and the effect of ads on retention |

Do not apply the ‘100% from month two’ rule for local-currency subscriptions to Robux subscriptions. In the first case, earnings are still denominated in Robux and go through DevEx; the price in local currency is not your bank payout. [Roblox — game subscriptions](https://create.roblox.com/docs/production/monetization/subscriptions)

Daily Engagement pays 5 Robux for a qualifying Active Spender who spends 10+ minutes in one of their first three qualifying games of the day. An Active Spender spent at least $9.99 over 60 days and was not new or reactivated during that period. Audience Expansion pays 35% of the first $100 in eligible purchases during the first 60 days when attribution is valid, the user spends 10+ minutes, and the game averages 100+ DAU during the following 60 days; additional conditions apply. Rewards are held for 60 days. [Roblox — Creator Rewards](https://create.roblox.com/docs/creator-rewards)

If 1,000 rewarded daily visits at 5 Robux each are confirmed, that is 150,000 Robux over 30 days, or $570 at the standard DevEx rate before costs. **1,000 DAU does not mean 1,000 rewarded visits**: use the number of users who actually earned a reward, not the entire active audience.

Roblox Plus subsidizes the player's discount without reducing the creator's usual earnings. Attracting a subscriber through the in-game prompt pays up to 750 Robux over the first three paid months; use of an eligible private server pays up to 100 per month. A game receives a 10% commission on a built-in transfer, and this commission is DevEx-eligible; the 90% received by the player is not. [Roblox — Plus creator incentives](https://create.roblox.com/docs/production/monetization/roblox-plus)

Regional pricing can make an offer more affordable for different audiences, but a lower price only helps if purchase volume rises enough. If net earnings per purchase fall by 20%, you need 25% more purchases to maintain revenue. Display the price returned by Roblox and compare profit, not just the number of payments. [Roblox — regional pricing](https://create.roblox.com/docs/production/monetization/regional-pricing)

1. First fix early exits, loading, and the clarity of the first gameplay loop. Show a purchase offer after the player understands its value.
2. Split cohorts by source, country, device, and acquisition date. Calculate Earned Robux per acquired player, refunds, and 7/30/60-day revenue.
3. Test one meaningful change to price or offer content at a time. Account for seasonality, events, and audience mix; growth after a change still does not prove causation.
4. Compare incremental profit with advertising and update costs. US 18+ raises revenue from qualifying purchases by about 42%, but it does not justify unprofitable acquisition or a redesign that damages retention.
5. Check your cash runway for the waiting period: sales, rewards, moderation, DevEx, and banking all create delays. Do not fund recurring expenses solely from rewards that are still pending.

## Lawful ways to reduce costs and an action plan

The most useful tactics are to eliminate repeated conversions, choose an appropriate payout size, claim tax-treaty benefits correctly, and account for real business expenses. They reduce losses without depending on a random Robux buyer.

1. Check your Earned Robux balance and its categories, pending earnings, and obligations to your team.
2. Identify the recipient: you personally or a company. The owner name, payment details, and tax information must align. Confirm tax residency and eligibility for a treaty rate.
3. Compare available Tipalti methods, the bank's incoming fee, and one final currency conversion. Include account maintenance costs.
4. Make a small first eligible payout, save the documents, and confirm the actual deposit. Once confirmed, use a predictable schedule.
5. Keep separate reserves for tax and game expenses. Do not treat the entire bank payout as personal profit.
6. Before November 2026, review Creator Hub Taxes; do not assume an old form in Tipalti will always be sufficient.
7. Reconcile revenue, community payouts, DevEx, fees, withheld tax, and bank deposits every month. Correct errors and omissions before the annual tax return.

Combining small payouts makes sense when the fixed fee is material. Keeping all profit on the platform for years to save a few dollars is risky: it remains platform money and does not pay your obligations. A clear rule is more useful than trying to predict a future rate.

A company makes sense when reinvestment, partners, employees, and business protection are useful. Saving 5 percentage points on $10,000 in annual profit is only $500; on $200,000 it is $10,000. Compare that saving with annual accounting, licensing, banking, travel, and the tax incurred when the owner receives money.

Record the following in your payout ledger: earnings period, Robux categories, gross USD, U.S. tax, provider fee, effective exchange rate, bank deposit, team/advertising expenses, tax reserve, and personal remainder. For a crypto route, add trades and network fees. [Download the article with formulas](/resources/templates/roblox-devex-cashout-en.md).

## What else has been announced and what to recheck

In its September 11, 2026 announcement, Roblox describes a Wallet scheduled to begin rolling out in the U.S. in December 2026: initially for independent creators aged 18+, with USD earnings deposited on business days after a hold. Roblox says the existing exchange rates will apply. **As of September 13, 2026, this is a future plan, not a DevEx replacement available to everyone.** [Roblox — Wallet announcement, September 11, 2026](https://devforum.roblox.com/t/introducing-roblox-wallet-and-card-get-paid-faster/4865505)

Before every large payout, recheck five things: the current rate for your categories, country and bank availability, the final fee, the validity of your tax documents, and the effective dates of new rules. A personal calculation requires your tax residency, legal form, annual profit, share of U.S.-source income, and payout currency. Without them, an exact ‘net amount for you’ would be invented.

All figures in the examples are illustrative; calculations use no intermediate rounding and are rounded only for display. The rules and primary sources were checked on **September 13, 2026**. Confirm tax treatment, income classification, and eligibility for foreign tax credits with a professional in your jurisdiction.
